Business Operations Assistant

At Santa Clarita Smile Design, I've built and maintained operational datasets in Google Sheets tracking lender outreach and application status (standardized fields, validation rules, status taxonomy) for accurate reporting and auditability.

Optimized recruiting workflows using Indeed analytics: monitored applicant volume and posting performance, adjusted sponsored budget for this office and 3 others (Healthy Smiles locations in Norwalk, Long Beach, and El Monte, California) based on manager feedback, screened resumes for requirements, and routed qualified candidates to managers across all four offices.

Implemented AI-assisted task automation (templated follow-ups, structured summaries, calendar scheduling) to reduce missed steps and speed turnaround across multi-threaded operational requests, allowing leadership to obtain relevant information efficiently.

Apr. 2024 - Nov. 2025

Data Analyst/Engineer

Over the past year, I’ve fully immersed myself in data engineering and analytics — using this time to independently build high-impact projects, support early-stage startups, and sharpen my technical fluency across the entire data stack. With a background in Computer Science and experience in software development, I brought structure and scalability into every solution I worked on, combining engineering rigor with a sharp eye for storytelling

One standout project began as a curiosity: could there be a correlation between NBA player performance and city temperature? What started as a hard-coded analysis of LeBron James soon grew into a robust, scalable pipeline powered by Python and Pandas — capable of analyzing career-long temperature-adjusted performance for any player in the league. I built filters for scoring metrics (like Hollinger's  Game Score), weighted games for home/away and conference, and produced a brand-new analytic lens through which we can view greatness — culminating in “Team Fire” and “Team Ice”, teams made of players who thrive in the hottest or coldest cities.

I also completed a professional-grade HR dashboard in Tableau, a visually dynamic and interactive analytics solution that synthesizes large-scale HR data into meaningful insights. The dashboard includes over 15 visualizations, detailed tooltips, motion effects, and layered data — offering both executive-level overviews and per-employee drilldowns. Designed for real-world use, the dashboard brings together everything I’ve learned about data visualization, UX in reporting, and user-driven interactivity. In addition, I took on freelance analytics work for early-stage startups and college capstone groups, delivering dashboards, visual assets, and basic data warehouse setups. I created custom Canva-based visualizations, conducted exploratory analyses, and set up lightweight ETL processes to help teams make data-driven decisions even without full-time analysts on board.

To round out my knowledge and ensure I'm working with the best practices in the industry, I also completed Data with Baraa's SQL Course on Youtube, a highly-regarded practical series that walks through real-world data workflows with Pandas, SQL, and more. This helped reinforce my foundation and exposed me to new techniques used by working data professionals. Above all, this time has been about learning by doing — and producing tangible, portfolio-grade work that blends creativity, curiosity, and technical discipline.

2024 - Present

Music Composer, Sound Engineer

I have composed the soundtrack for, mixed and mastered multiple festival and award nominated short films. I both composed and sound engineered the short film “Midnight Noon” which received a nomination at Film Fest Knox in Tennessee. My composing work on this film includes orchestral composition and composition of piano scores through leveraging my knowledge of piano theory and basic music theory, as well as careful involvement of unique synthesizers, experimental sounds and ambient scapes to create a cinematic and full sound through the use of detailed libraries like Analog Lab V from Arturia, and Spitfire Labs.

I also worked on the short film called “What Rania Sees”, which was nominated to TrillVision Film Festival in Los Angeles. In post, I served as the sound engineer for this production, which included careful work in both Reaper and DaVinci Resolve Fairlight to complete work with all sound effects and refine the final mix.

A key aspect film projects has been establishing strong collaboration with directors, editors, and other team members while maintaining an organized workflow. Using markers, sectioning, and precise slip edits on live instruments, I ensure a structured and efficient audio workspace. My nearly two years of experience as a software developer have further refined my ability to manage projects, communicate effectively, and adapt quickly in live creative sessions. This skillset has enabled me to seamlessly implement feedback and adjustments in real time during collaborative sessions, ensuring the final product aligns with the creative vision.

Dec. 2023 - Mar. 2024

Valencia, CA

Software Engineer

At Ronan Systems Engineering, I spearheaded the modernization of a mission-critical software system originally developed in the early 2000s — used in nuclear power facilities and safety-critical environments. This project required deep familiarity with legacy codebases, low-level system programming, and Microsoft frameworks.

I took full ownership of the migration effort, upgrading the codebase to align with Visual Studio 2024 Community standards and ensuring compatibility with modern development tools. Working in C++, MFC, COM, and low-level C, I enhanced performance, resolved memory issues, and introduced workflow automation features to streamline validation and deployment.

My role required autonomous time management and active collaboration with QA, hardware engineers, and domain specialists. I contributed directly to code reliability, system safety, and compliance adherence, while also introducing internal documentation and automated testing scripts to improve development efficiency and future maintainability.

Aug. 2022 -May. 2023

New York, NY

Fullstack Developer/Scrum Master

At Shoptaki, I led full-stack development on a health optimization mobile app — from whiteboard planning to working prototype — while also serving as Scrum Master to drive team performance in two-week sprints. The app aimed to centralize patient wellness data, medication schedules, and lifestyle insights into a streamlined user experience.

I designed and implemented the app architecture using React Native for cross-platform frontend development and Node.js, Firebase, and ArangoDB on the backend. I engineered seamless frontend-backend integration, designed responsive UIs, and managed real-time database automation for features such as medication reminders, intake tracking, and secure user authentication.

As Scrum Master, I coordinated sprint planning, calculated burndown velocity, and maintained Agile rituals that ensured consistent delivery. I worked directly with the CEO to translate product vision into engineering tasks, optimized workflow pipelines, and built custom database queries to support metrics and reporting.

Aug. 2021 -Mar. 2022

Tempe, AZ

Researcher & Developer

At Arizona State University – Cognitive Science Lab (Memory & Attention Control), in this hybrid research and development role, I contributed to a pioneering initiative examining the integration of programming into cognitive psychology research. I co-led workshops for graduate students using Python for Experimental Psychologists, teaching them how to design and execute studies with Python. These students went on to publish several of their projects in academic journals, showcasing the tangible impact of our curriculum.

Working directly with the department chair, I helped design and implement a C++ prototype for reaction time testing in athletes, targeted specifically at baseball players. The application measured microsecond-level inputs and analyzed reaction metrics relevant to scouting, performance enhancement, and sports science. The project aimed to scale to professional leagues like the MLB and was an early foray into building data-centric tools for athletic assessment.

In addition to teaching and development, I participated in internal lab meetings to refine data pipelines, improve code efficiency, and test prototype integrity — applying a blend of research logic and engineering rigor.

Apr. 2021 -Aug. 2022

Tempe, AZ

Behavioral Data Analyst & Researcher

At Arizona State University's Canine Science Collaboratory, and in partnership with the ASPCA, I served as a data analyst and behavioral researcher for a large-scale study on human-dog interaction patterns. I led structured observation sessions and handled the collection, cleaning, and preparation of behavioral data in Excel — resulting in thousands of data points that fed into peer-reviewed scientific studies.

I applied basic ETL principles (extracting data from observation, transforming for analysis, and loading into visualization formats) and prepared data for use in Excel-based dashboards that allowed collaborators to identify trends in temperament, responsiveness, and social behaviors.

It served as an early hands-on introduction to the impact of data quality and real-world modeling on long-term outcomes, as this work was part of scientific publications.
